Your privacy, plainly explained

We keep this simple because there isn't much to say — the tool runs in your browser and we don't collect your touch data.

Last Updated: May 16, 2025

The Short Version

The touchscreen test itself runs entirely in your browser. We do not record, transmit, or store your touch data, device inputs, or test results. Full stop. The rest of this policy covers standard website analytics and advertising — things that are common to almost every website you visit.

What Information We Collect

Information you give us directly

We have no login system and no forms that ask for personal information. If you contact us via email or the feedback button, we receive your message and any details you choose to include.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we use analytics tools that automatically collect certain non-personal technical data when you visit. This may include:

  • Pages you visit and how long you stay
  • Your general geographic region (country or city level — not your precise location)
  • Browser type and version, operating system
  • Referral source (how you found us)
  • Device type (mobile, tablet, desktop)

This data is aggregated and anonymous. It tells us things like "200 people visited from India this week" — not who those people are or what they specifically did on screen.

Touch data from the test

Your touch input is processed entirely within your browser using the Web Touch Events API. None of this data — where you tapped, how many fingers you used, your coverage result — is ever sent to our servers. It exists only in your browser for the duration of the test and disappears when you close the overlay.

Cookies

We use cookies for two purposes:

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics sets cookies to track session information and page visits. The data is anonymized — we cannot identify you from it. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Advertising cookies

We display ads through Google AdSense to support the free operation of this tool. AdSense may set cookies to show you relevant advertisements based on your browsing history. Google's advertising practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can manage your ad personalization settings at adssettings.google.com.

Preference cookies

We store your theme preference (light/dark/system) and autostart preference in your browser's local storage so the site remembers your choices between visits. This data never leaves your device.

How We Use Your Information

The limited analytics data we collect is used solely to:

  • Understand which features are most useful and improve the tool
  • Monitor site performance and fix technical issues
  • Understand our audience at a high level (what devices people use, what browsers, etc.)

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except for the analytics and advertising platforms mentioned above (Google Analytics, Google AdSense), which have their own privacy policies.

Third-Party Services

This website uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy that governs how they handle data:

  • Google Analytics — website traffic analytics (privacy policy)
  • Google AdSense — display advertising (privacy policy)
  • Google Fonts — typography assets loaded from Google's CDN (privacy policy)

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services and encourage you to review their policies independently.

Your Rights & Regional Compliance

🇪🇺 GDPR (EU Users)

If you're in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold. You also have the right to object to processing and to data portability. Since we collect very little personal data, most requests will be straightforward to fulfill. Contact us at the email below to exercise your rights.

🇺🇸 CCPA (California Users)

If you're a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to request deletion of that data, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To submit a CCPA request, contact us at the email below.

Data Retention

Analytics data is retained by Google Analytics for a maximum of 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. We do not maintain our own long-term records of individual visitor data. Any feedback messages you send us may be kept for as long as is necessary to respond and improve the product.

Children's Privacy

TouchScreenTest.org is a general-purpose utility tool and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

If we make meaningful changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of the page. We encourage you to check back periodically. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
